Authorities in Santa Monica, Calif., say a man who claimed to be headed to a Los Angeles gay pride parade was found to have an automatic rifle and items that could be used to make pipe bombs in his car.

According to a story from the Los Angeles Times, the man was arrested after the Santa Monica Police department received a call of a prowler. When officers found the man and searched his car, they discovered the weapons and explosives.

The man allegedly told police he was trying to find a friend and the two were going to the LA! Pride Music Festival and Parade in West Hollywood.

According to police, tannerite, an ingredient used in bomb making, was found in the car. The car had Indiana license plates.

Security around the festival has been increased, according to a statement from West Hollywood City Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath.

There has been no word of a suspected link between the arrest of the man in California and the mass shooting that happened at a gay bar in Orlando overnight.
